COVID has, of course, necessitated the requirement to pare back nuptials. But, while lockdown may not last forever, we think smaller weddings may… So, in our last blog article, we explored the benefits of holding a small wedding. Beautiful  Bearnock in Glenurquhart, Scotland makes for the most romantic of days, and to help you prepare for yours; we thought we’d share some tips on small wedding planning. Read on for our top 3 tips.

Top 3 Tips – Small Wedding Planning in Glenurquhart, Scotland:

Decide Who is ‘On the List’:

When it comes to small wedding planning your guest list is one of the first things you need to refine. In fact, deciding on a more intimate affair often makes the whole process simpler. As a general rule of thumb, a ‘small wedding’ typically includes a guest list of 50 or less, which means that you will often only invite your nearest and dearest. At Bearnock Lodge we can cater for your close friends and family perfectly. In fact, we offer two options.

  • Option 1: The house can be let for very small (22), informal weddings.
  • Option 2: A small wedding (24 – 40) with additional guests over and above the sleeping capacity of the house.

Balance the Budget:

One of the great things about planning a more intimate wedding is that they tend not to cost as much as larger affairs. At Bearnock Lodge in beautiful Glenurquhart, Scotland, we do not charge a venue hire (just your accommodation costs) if your wedding party doesn’t exceed the sleeping capacity of the house (22). If your guest list is slightly larger (24-40), we still aim to keep things cost-effective for you, only charging between £50 and £500 in addition to the house rental charge.

We’ve also put together a Little Black Book of Wedding Suppliers. All of these businesses have been recommended by residents in Drumnadrochit or have been used by guests at Bearnock Lodge previously. We think this invaluable guide will help you with your small wedding planning and budgeting.

Make it Your Day:

Of course, it is exactly that. But small wedding planning often means that you can step back from tradition and do exactly as you please. At Bearnock, we do everything we can to help you facilitate that. Our housekeeper is always at the end of the phone. You have exclusive use of the house and grounds throughout your stay. We have glassware, red carpets, tablecloths and bunting ready for you to use at the property. And the extensive grounds and Glenurquhart scenery make for stunning picturesque memories.

So, if you are just about to begin planning your small wedding, talk to us about holding it at Bearnock. Contact us HERE.

In these uncertain times, we offer a full refund guarantee. We will facilitate rebooking (subject to availability) OR offer you a FULL refund if the Scottish Government introduces any lockdown or distancing restrictions before your stay that would result in us being unable to accommodate your party.
