Exploring the Highlands from Bearnock Lodge

You are here: Home / Holidays / Exploring the Highlands from Bearnock Lodge

If you’ve ever thought about exploring the Highlands of Scotland then you’re going to need a base. That’s where we come in… Bearnock Lodge is the perfect location for family adventures and Highland holidays. We have so much on our doorstep. Stunning scenery, historic castles, forests to run wild in and the odd monster to spot.

But, the best thing is, at the end of the day, you can return to base and enjoy the comfort and luxury accommodation at Bearnock Lodge.

Exploring the Highlands from Bearnock Lodge:

The Glenurquhart Forest

If mountain biking is your bag, then you’ll be thrilled by the trails. The extensive network of forest tracks have circular and longer, linear routes to keep you pedalling all day long.

Glen Affric National Nature Reserve

Enjoy long family walks through ancient Caledonian pinewoods and across open moorland. You’ll be able to see all sorts of wildlife. Keep the kids busy by creating a game for them to score points for each type of bird they spot.

Spotting Nessie

This is always a firm family favourite when you’re exploring the Highlands. You can join a Nessie hunting boat trip or visit Nessieland in Drumnadrochit, here the Nessieland Adventure Playground will delight the kids.

Urquhart Castle

If you’re exploring the Highlands, it goes without saying that a castle has to be on the itinerary. Urquhart Castle offers a taste of the Highlands at their most dramatic. Find out more HERE.

Inverness

No holiday is complete without a little holiday shopping. Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is only 25 miles away with everything a modern city has to offer.

The Isle of Skye

The drive over to the Isle of Skye, (only just over an hour away) is breathtaking. The open space, the red deer, and the mountains on either side of you are just beautiful. The Isle of Skye itself can be stunning, but it’s bigger than you think and needs a full day out to see it all.

Ben Nevis and Fort William

Mountains are a must when you’re exploring the Highlands. Ben Nevis is Scotland’s iconic peak and also the highest mountain in the British Isles. You can take the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig (seasonal). This is very popular due to the Harry Potter connection, so do book in advance.

If you’re thinking of exploring the Highlands, Bearnock lodge makes an ideal base. Book here to secure your stay.

“Just returned after a long weekend! It is AMAZING. Decor, location, surroundings are all stunning. 8 adults 4 kids did not see kids there had their own space as did the adults. Gathering together in the evening lighting the fire was the highlight of the day! “
