Sightseeing in Scottish Highlands

A Staycation in Scotland in 2023.

International travel may be back on the cards, but that doesn’t mean heading to the nearest airport is compulsory. In fact, we think there are still some excellent reasons for choosing to stay in the UK. Read on to discover three (out of many reasons) why you should consider a staycation in Scotland for 2023.

Sightseeing in Scottish Highlands

Three reasons to take a Staycation in Scotland in 2023:

Bring the whole family:

The incredible joy of Bearnock is that it can fit the whole family! The property sleeps twenty guests.

If overseas travel and hotel dining is prohibitively pricey for some family members, Bearnock offers the perfect solution. Self-catering is a dream at Bearnock. In fact, we have two kitchens for you to use! Plus, a grand dining room that seats eighteen.

We ensure that our charges are cost-effective by charging for the entire property rental rather than on a per-person basis, meaning you can split the weekly rate between a full house!

Avoid travel disruption:

It’s no secret that even though pandemic restrictions may have eased, international travel still comes with disruption. Industrial action and tighter border controls, especially during school holidays, have not made holidaying abroad plain sailing over the last twelve months.

History, Culture and Heritage:

Travel provides a learning experience like no other. But that doesn’t mean you have to go overseas. Scotland’s rich history, culture and heritage offer so much to visitors. And you can discover all of this just a short distance from Bearnock.

History:

History is on your doorstep at Bearnock. A mile or two down the road, you’ll find the ruins of Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness. Once one of Scotland’s largest castles, Urquhart saw great conflict during its 500 years as a medieval fortress. Control of the castle passed back and forth between the Scots and English during the Wars of Independence. The power struggles continued as the Lords of the Isles regularly raided castle and glen until the 1500s.

Culture:

Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is only 25 miles away, with everything a modern city has to offer. Enjoy theatre, galleries, dining and festivals throughout the year.

“Just returned after a long weekend! It is AMAZING. Decor, location, surroundings are all stunning. 8 adults 4 kids did not see kids there had their own space as did the adults. Gathering together in the evening lighting the fire was the highlight of the day! “

Large Family Holidays in Scotland – Unplug and Reconnect

One of the beauties of Bearnock Lodge is that it is a family home at heart. It was initially built as a summer home and shooting lodge for a London-based family in the 1860s. Since then, it passed through several families before the Sutherland family purchased the property in the summer of 2009. The Sutherlands …
